I'm not cool...I'm super awesome!!!

At the end of our amazing session at the Botanical Gardens in Asheville, I was thanking 3 year old Marough for being so cool. He quickly (but softly) corrected me by saying, "I'm not cool." So I apologized and he told me, "I'm not cool, I'm super awesome!" Then he cupped one hand and grabbed out of it with the other and offered me what he grabbed. He was sharing some of his awesome with me. Don't think I have ever gotten a better gift. : )







He and his family were so much fun to work with! The boys are so sweet and caring! Here are a few more favorites...the one below was the last shot on a roll of medium format bw film. Love film - especially to capture the looks from children who haven't seen a camera like that before!









Marough was excited about the Thomas the train bridge!!




I was honored that Cori called me the weekend before Marough started chemo. He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma the week before our session on Saturday and had a tumor removed that same week on Tuesday. The family has been working with doctors on aggressive treatments and chemotherapy regimes and ask for the thoughts and prayers to help them through. Mae's first birthday photo session

It was great getting to photograph Mae again! She was one of my great little models last year and made for an awesome birth announcement. Check back for a birth announcement blog soon.
Happy birthday, Mae! The Highway 61 coffee house in Vicksburg, Mississippi was the perfect last minute location when the weather turned ugly. Thanks, Robyn and Jason!! She has so much personality!! Loved it!

Thanks everyone for the great support of my mini sessions! There are still a few sessions left on each of the upcoming dates. Call or email soon to schedule your mini session if you want to get in on this round!

Mini sessions are 15 minute sessions for $25 that include an online album, 2-5x7 prints and wallets. This round will be held at the Asheville Botanical Gardens. The mini session can be used for a family portrait, a session just for the kids, for individuals or couples.

The dates are:

Wednesday September 16 - 9:00 -11:00 am & 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Sunday September 20 - 10:00 am - 2:30 pm

Sunday September 27 - 10:00 am - 2:30 pm

Carly, Maddie, Mom and Dad

I was thrilled to have the whole family together for this shoot! Carly, 4, and her sister Maddie, 2, had their first visit to the Botanical Gardens of Asheville during our session. Their dad is usually at work when I have the chance to visit and photograph this wonderful family, so this was a special day. It couldn't have been better, with the beautiful setting and the girls exploring a new place.

Glad to have another installment in their family photos; we have been working together for over 5 years now! After a Maddie gets a little older, we are going to create an album of their family time-line.

Ethan and Gabe's Mini Session

I had so much fun yesterday at the mini sessions!! My first session was with 6 1/2 year old Ethan and his brother, 3 1/2 year old Gabe. These boys were wonderful to work with - we were able to capture lots of great photos for mom!! I was lucky to have the mini session day start out with such great subjects! Many thanks to their mom for bringing them and supporting my mini sessions!!

I cannot believe how big these girls have gotten (and how tiny and fit mom has become!). Almost 5 years has gone by since I first started photographing Carly while still in her mom's tummy! Now she is almost 5 and Madeline just turned 2! Much overdue installment on their family timeline. It is almost time to start on an album to preserve all those wonderful moments they have had me there to capture.
