I'm not cool...I'm super awesome!!!
At the end of our amazing session at the Botanical Gardens in Asheville, I was thanking 3 year old Marough for being so cool. He quickly (but softly) corrected me by saying, "I'm not cool." So I apologized and he told me, "I'm not cool, I'm super awesome!" Then he cupped one hand and grabbed out of it with the other and offered me what he grabbed. He was sharing some of his awesome with me. Don't think I have ever gotten a better gift. : )
He and his family were so much fun to work with! The boys are so sweet and caring! Here are a few more favorites...the one below was the last shot on a roll of medium format bw film. Love film - especially to capture the looks from children who haven't seen a camera like that before!
Marough was excited about the Thomas the train bridge!!
I was honored that Cori called me the weekend before Marough started chemo. He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma the week before our session on Saturday and had a tumor removed that same week on Tuesday. The family has been working with doctors on aggressive treatments and chemotherapy regimes and ask for the thoughts and prayers to help them through. To keep up with Marough's progress and to get in touch to help any way you can, check out the Little Iron Man blog. Sending my love to the Gardner family!! Glad we were able to go play that day!! I look forward to the next time! : )
