The North Carolina Arboretum is such an idyllic place to have a wedding. I always love getting to shoot at this location and this day was no exception! The awe-inspiring gardens, pathways and installations that are the perfect backdrop for a wedding. Lara and John, a couple local to Asheville, knew the gardens were the perfect location for their big day and were excited for their family and friends to experience one of their favorite places. They envisioned a ceremony by the Johnson pool surrounded by their guests - but at the last minute, mother nature insisted on moving it indoors. The ceremony was quickly moved upstairs in the the Baker Center, as the reception was still being set up downstairs. The rain poured while the couple were wed. As soon as Lara and John's ceremony finished, the skies parted and the gardens were ready for the newlyweds, saving their first moments by the pool and in the gardens until they were man and wife.
This spirit of play and optimism seems to be a theme for this adorable couple as they seek out new adventures together - all starting with a trip down the French Broad River on their first day together. They found themselves with some challenges along the river that day and found themselves inseparable soon after. I will never forget how they both just wanted to see the other - rain or not, inside or outside, it did not matter. They were ready to take the next step on their adventure together and celebrate with their favorite people.
Not only were Lara and John a blast to work with, they had a great team of vendors that made being their wedding photographer even more of a joy! Everyone helped make the ceremony site moving as seamless as possible with coordination by Party Envy and the great staff of the Arboretum. A Bride's DJ did a wonderful job as always. Jacqueline Weiks performed the ceremony. Catering by Celine and Co. and cake by Simply Delicious. The garden inspired floral by Lady Luck Flowers. Every detail was a fitting complement to the couple and their style - and I was so lucky to have been their photographer!!
